Why does Pornhub think I'm in Idaho?
Websites estimate where you are from your IP address, not your street address. Mobile carriers and some internet providers route traffic through regional hubs that can sit across a state line, so a phone in Oregon can appear to be in Idaho.
When a site shows another state's notice, the cause is usually where your network's IP address is registered, not the law where you are.
Bills to watch
- HB 2032. Would have required commercial entities publishing websites where more than one-third of the material is sexual material harmful to minors to verify users' ages and delete identifying data, enforced through private lawsuits. Died in the House Judiciary Committee when the 2025 session adjourned.
- HB 3696. Would have required app stores and developers to verify users' ages, sort them into age categories and get parental consent for minors. Died in the House Commerce and Consumer Protection Committee when the 2025 session adjourned.
